There's a lot of factors that really make it difficult for any 49ers QB. With moody not able to kick fgs it forces you to go more aggressive on every part of the field.
IE you have to pass in situations you might try a run which lets them tee off more on defensive on pass rush.the other teams know this.
Then you add in no healthy good weapons, and more than that the fact that the veterans are so favored they eat all the practice/game snaps of the young guys. This means the timing throws are off in game with the younger guys.
Then the whole long time to get the plays in from the sideline and no play changes at the line.
It's just a lot of factors that make it harder.
That design rollout from brock where he has an open field in front of him to his right is his best play. We don't run it near enough.
We don't throw enough screens or practice then enough.
brendel week 1 had no penalties, no sacks, and pff has him 6th in pass grade out of 35 qualifying. i'm gonna say he did well, even if it's one game, it was an encouraging one from center.
